Artefact 53

Sewing box fixed
Sewing Box reaired

Marg’s mother, Gwen Prince, used this wooden cantilevered sewing box for as long as Marg could remember so it is at least 60 years old. As seen below it was in need of refurbishment and it was taken to the Repair Cafe Ashford where Julie Beale did a splendid job on the hinges. The worn paintwork and original floral motif have been retained. It is now back in use. Better to re-use than throw away!

This sewing box is still available ranging from £40-£150. But you can’t put a price on a little family history.

The Repair Cafe Ashford is based at Singleton Environment Centre.
