Surrey
Two family events: brother Steve’s 70th birthday party at The Cricketers, Horsell and niece Amy and Harry were married (at last #justsaying).
Italian Riviera
A Great Rail Journey’s holiday to Sestri Levante and the Cinque Terre. It took in Turin, Portofino, Pisa, Lucca, Camogli and return via Nice.
Italy still had strict Covid-19 rules which included wearing high-spec masks on the trains at all times. The conductor turfed some passengers off one train and were made to buy a better mask.

Iceland
After two false-starts (see 2019 and 2020) we managed to get to Iceland again. It was super to meet up with our friends Kristin amd Kiddi with their family at home in Hafnarfjörður, just south of Reykjavík.
It fulfilled a 28 year promise to ourselves to return to Iceland. (See 1994)
Oh, but guess what. We had Covid-19 (for the first time) on the last leg of the journey and were confined to our cabin.
We did the circle around Iceland taking in Heimay (Westman Islands), Seydisfjordur, Isafjordur, Grundarfjordur and Reykjavík.

Of course.
Around British Isles
Don’t tell anyone, but I won this from an advert in a local newspaper. It was the new cruise company which rose from the ashes of the company which went bust during the Covid-19 pandemic. It took in St Marys (Isles of Scilly), Cobh for Cork, Galway, Killybegs (RoI), Belfast, Portree (Isle of Skye), Kirkwall (Orkney) and Lerwick (Shetland).
The stand out from this cruise was the excellent local guides who brought alive their places.
