Breaking news from Jo Jones (Atkins) (January 2017)

“Following a mini-reunion last year, which was mentioned on Facebook, Ve Chamberlain and I thought it would be fun to have a larger scale one. Ve has very kindly offered her house as a base, which is great as she lives in Pinner, North West London – very convenient for access by road and on the Underground..
The proposed date is the weekend of 13/14th May 2017.
As some of you will know, Ve has been very involved in the successful setting up and launch of the Heath Robinson Museum in Pinner – https://www.heathrobinsonmuseum.org and we thought that it would be great to include a couple of visits to the museum as part of the weekend (a maximum of 15 people in a group is allowed).
So, our very sketchy plans so far are:
Saturday 13th – visit to museum in the morning (it opens at 11am; we can have a maximum of 15 arriving at 11 and another 15 arriving at 12)
– lunch/tea at Ve’s house from 2pm onwards
– possible evening outing to theatre or similar
Sunday 14th – visit to the museum in the morning/guided walk around the Pinner area
The Museum can’t do guided tours at weekends, but can offer a group rate for all FSSW people of £5 (normally £6). Art Fund members go free.
Ve has a limited amount of accommodation available, some of which would have to be shared.
She would be asking for contributions to food/drink – details to come later.
At this stage, we would like to know:
– whether you are interested in attending and whether for one day or two
– whether you would need accommodation
– whether you could offer accommodation or a lift
– whether you would be interested in visiting the museum, and if so your preferred time: from 11 or from 12 on the Saturday, or sometime on the Sunday – it is open 11-4
– whether you are happy for your email address to be shared (am currently “bcc”ing everyone)
– whether you have any other suggestions for activities (or are happy to organise something)
– whether you are in contact with any year group ’73 OS in particular:
Jeremy Barker, Alison Bernal, Peter Clifford, Eddie East, Kate Fuller,Margaret Grigg, Louise Harman, Julian Hartley, Sian John, Annie Filgate, Jenna Huxley, Gareth Lloyd, Louis Mair, Lesley Martinson, Caroline Earle, Mary Sommer, Janet Stembridge, Jane Tarran, Sudha Trivedi, Kate Northam, Anna Beardsley and David Way
for whom I have no email address.
Ve intends to set up a Facebook group for this event. As quite a few of us are already friends on Facebook, this should soon snowball.
And if anyone doesn’t know about it or has forgotten, a reminder that Angus has a website about our group which he devoted many hours to some years ago – http://pannage.com/fssw73/wp-c ontent/uploads/2002/04/FSSW73. pdf
Regrettably, we have decided that we can’t include spouses/partners in this invitation, as there probably won’t be room in Ve’s house. However, as we get a clearer idea of numbers, we may be able to be more flexible about this.
We look forward to hearing from you,
Jo (and Ve).”
